There is a variety of reasons why staying at the Hotel Pousada Icarai is an excellent option. It has a wonderful atmosphere, is entirely closed-in and secluded, with its exuberant plant and birdlife.

  Visitors to Ceara have 600 km of beautiful coastline to see, stretching eastwards and westwards, with lovely beaches to visit, the most well-known of which are Cumbuco, Paracuru, Lagoinha, Flexeiras and Mundau to the west, and to the east there is Beach Park, Brazil’s most famous beachside theme park with the highest flume in the world and the beaches of Morro Branco and Praia das Fontes.

   Of course, the important points of interest in Fortaleza should also be visited, the shopping malls and the handicraft markets such as the Central Market and EMCETUR, built on the site of the old city prison, the Dragao do Mar Cultural Centre and the Ponte Metalica (also know as the Englishmen’s Bridge), where the Praia de Iracema offers its Bohemian nocturnal attractions and restaurants, and the famous sea front handicrafts fair, open every evening from sunset to 11pm.

Located on the western side of the city, it is on average only some 14 km from the city centre and from the attractions mentioned here and linked to all by a well-paved highway with no traffic congestion. Added to this, there is the beach of Icarai right in front of the Hotel, where visitors can bathe in the lovely warm water so typical of Ceara.

   You can arrange a trip out each morning to one of the beautiful beaches already mentioned, then come back to the Hotel to rest up before going out in the evening to one of Fortaleza’s many night attractions and points of interest, many of which come alive after sunset.

    Normal bus services run every 25 minutes during the day between Icarai and the centre of Fortaleza. THE HOTEL ALSO OFFERS CAR HIRE, WITH THE MOST COMPETETIVE RATES IN TOWN.

   Buggy rides over the region’s famous sand dunes and to the beautiful freshwater lakes can be booked on request, as can a variety of other daytrips by air conditioned minibus to numerous fine beaches in the region and other points of interest.

   We also have an agreement with a local tour company, which collects guests from the hotel for daytrips to beaches along the region’s west coast.

   At the Hotel at all times, and especially during breakfast time, we are on hand to give information about daytrips, buggy rides, etc. Quite often our guests spend the whole day without leaving the hotel, so delightful are the surroundings.
